The Secretary of
War by a Letter Dated 11 January 1778 has signified that his Majesty has been
pleased to promote Captain Thomas Stanley of the 17th Regiment Light Dragoons
to be Major of a Regiment engaged to be Raised for foreign Service by the
Corporation of Liverpool.
