War Office 20th May 1778
I have the
honor to acquaint you that since the usual Warrants for passing the
Assignments of the Offreckonings
of the Regiments mentioned in the Margin were issued from
this Office, it has been represented that directions have
been given in Ireland with respect to those Regiments which are
cloathed in that Kingdom, but
serving out of Ireland that the
Stoppages which accrue on the Irish numbers of the said Corps should be detained in Ireland.
I have
accordingly judged it necessary in order to prevent the issue of any part of
the Offreckonings both here and in Ireland, to desire that the next intended
issue of Offreckonings here for those Corps, should be deferred for a short
time until this matter can be cleared up.
I
have the honor &ca.
